In 2023, Yasmine Kechad conceived and curated Mutation, a solo exhibition dedicated to Algerian artist Mizo at AYN Gallery, on Île Saint-Louis in Paris. The exhibition explores a practice built around photography and its potential transformations. In Mizo's work, the image becomes a space where the real and the imaginary meet, where photography dialogues with painting, and where staging, texture, and color disturb our initial perception of the image.

Mutation highlights this research around transformation, that of the image, but also of the narratives, memory, and social realities that run through the artist's work. The works thus invite the viewer to navigate between different levels of interpretation, between the observation of reality and the construction of a more interior and symbolic universe. This project also marks one of Yasmine Kechad's first collaborations with Mizo and the beginning of a long-term engagement supporting her practice and projects.
