Radja Ouslimane's work explores the relationship between image, memory, and space through painting and ceramics. Having grown up in Algeria, she developed an early interest in symbolism, architecture, and the emotional structures embedded in space, born of an acute awareness of the gap between lived experience and the images available to represent it.
Influenced by comparative urbanism and theories of perception, she approaches the city not only as a physical environment but as a psychological and emotional construction. The Casbah of Algiers stands as a central reference in this research, allowing her to explore how memory, social structures, and collective experience shape the spaces we inhabit.
Through abstraction, architectural forms fragment and recompose into symbolic landscapes that move between the personal and the collective. Influenced by the poetic language of chaabi music and Sufi symbolism, her work explores themes of memory, displacement, repetition, and the tension between visible structures and invisible emotional realities.
