Mizo
Mizo
Photography, ceramics, Algeria

Mizo is a visual artist whose practice explores photography, photo-painting, video and ceramics. Through a multidisciplinary approach, he develops a distinctive visual language at the intersection of image, material, symbol and observation of the real.

His work is rooted in the sociocultural realities of the MENA region, with particular attention to North Africa, while extending his reflection more broadly to the African continent and the Middle East.

Photography holds a central place in his practice. Mizo approaches it as a way of capturing and fragmenting time, but also as a space where memory, narrative and interpretation can coexist. Ceramics extends this research into material, introducing a more physical and tangible dimension to his work.

Detail, ever-present, becomes a language in its own right. His works combine a controlled aesthetic with subjects that are sometimes graver or more incisive. Rich in symbols and visual codes, they offer multiple levels of reading and invite the viewer to look beyond the image, to question what it reveals, conceals or holds in tension.

Mizo has presented several solo exhibitions in Algeria, and his work has also been shown internationally, notably in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain and France.
